It Is Hard For Thee To Kick Against The Pricks

I have always wondered why it is that sometimes we need to make the same mistakes before we learn a lesson.

Long story short, I wanted to download a "free" program for my cell phone so it would play the music I had on my computer without me having to either rip the music again, or convert all of them. I quickly found a program that promised to give me what I wanted, so I downloaded it into my laptop, only to find that the program messed up the system files on my laptop and it became near useless. The only solution was to re-install Windows.

Not long after that (less than a week), I wanted another "free" program and this time the file that supposedly had my program had a different program called "xp antivirus". This program proceded to scan my computer and supposedly found many viruses, worms, spyware, and all sorts of -wares on my computer. I felt something was not right, so I did a quick search on google for xp antivirus, and found out it was not an antivirus at all, but an actuall virus. Because I had barely re-installed windows on my laptop, I still didn't have an antivirus and crapware remover running, so my reaction was to immediately download one. Unfortunately the program did not allow for my program to download, so I immediately grabbed my re-installation CD and ran it.

What's the lesson here, boys and girls? Get your illegal programs from a trusted source.
