Count Your Blessings

I have always believed that technology is God-given, and tonight my belief was reassured.

As I previously discovered, my blog has attracted a handful of international readers and I thought this could be an opportunity to share what I believe and hopefully inspire others. The only problem is that not everyone speaks English and the electronic translators available have always been awful! To illustrate this, here's a sample from what my mom wrote, translated from Portuguese to English using a popular web translator:

Moral of the estoria: in them we are these perpetual apprenticees. In the all we came to this terrinha blessed with many, many expectations of improvement, change. Changes in fact had been many, " melhora" it is on account of the personal interpretation and the perspective of each one. Fact eh that all we are more mature, stronger, smarter, etc etc. Very even so the original plans did not sairam extamente as planned (it had some plan exactly), all were adaptaram and had moved

Does that make sense? Not to me. Here's the same thing using an alternate translator:

Moral of the Estoria: we are the eternal apprentice. In all came to this land blessed with many, many expectations of improvement, of change. Movers were in fact many, the "improvement" is on account of personal interpretation and perspective of each. Eh fact that we are all more mature, stronger, smarter, etc. etc.. Although the original plans extamente not out as planned (there was even a plan ???), all have adapted and changed

My point is that google came up with this gadget that you put on a website that translates the entire web page into many different languages. I was pleasantly surprised to find how better google translates pages, and I have put it on my blog so that my new friends will actually stay for more than 1 second. Happy translating!
